A Monkeynut Sound Original Single

Monkeynut Sound created the festive single ‘My Christmas Card To You’ several years ago, and although it received many hits on Youtube, as well as many positive reviews, it didn't receive a lot of traction. Why? Well it turns out the publisher had released the song under ‘My Christmas Card For You’! 

So, we’ve decided to re-release under the correct name, to try to raise some Christmas spirit and some funds for a worthy cause at the same time.

The Making Of ‘My Christmas Card To You’ 

Elliott Frisby (founder and director of Monkeynut Sound) came up with the idea of the song alongside co-writer Mike Read (who also performed lead vocals). The single was created at a time when Elliott was a bit strapped for cash and so, as well as his role as producer and co-writer, he recorded all the backing vocals and acoustic guitars in his flat in order to save money for studio time! 

The single was recorded with a band that Elliott put together and had played alongside many times, and Mark Tufty Evans (a brilliant sound engineer) edited the song to perfection and created the final version. The whole team had so much fun creating this feel-good festive number that they decided to create a music video.

The music video was all lined up to go - with a big budget and a fantastic director. Then, all of a sudden, with two days to go, the director was called to the States, so the team had just 48 hours to create something special. And special it was! The joyous wintry video featured Dave Hill from Slade and had that kind of ‘Wizard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday’ feel (hence the Roy Wood credit as a co-writer). The song went on to receive a lot of local press coverage, was released and sold in HMV, and was met with rave reviews. 

Shooting Star Hospice 

We’re hoping to revive this fantastic festive number, and use proceeds from My Christmas Card To You to raise money for the Shooting Star Hospice. The charity is a children’s hospice for babies and children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

Money raised will go to support families across London and Surrey through emotional and practical support as well as medical care. We’re absolutely delighted to be raising funds for this incredibly important charity.
